A photo narrative of L.A.’s Spring/Summer 2010 collections
In partnership with Flaunt Magazine and L.A. Models.
What: As part of its continually innovative programming, BOXeight is bringing you backstage for a closer look, inviting L.A.’s best designers to collaborate with some of fashion’s most in-demand photographers to shoot Spring/Summer 2010’s hottest looks.
This season’s fashion week is kicked off with the over-the-top release party of Flaunt magazine’s October issue, honoring legendary photographer David LaChapelle’s three-page cover and 12-page spread.
Over the following three days, the behind-the-scenes becomes the spectacular as designers build installations and sets at BOXeight’s 12,000-square-foot studio/gallery space downtown, creating backdrops for their photo shoots as press and industry insiders get hands-on interaction with creative talent. The resulting images will comprise a 24-page supplemental publication to be sent out with Flaunt’s November issue to its 800,000 subscribers in 32 countries around the world.
Hair and makeup islands will be prime locations for interviewing, networking and general face-to-face time while stylists and art directors translate ideas into images on set. L.A. Models will be providing some of the city’s top faces for the four-day extravaganza. Each day will be followed by an avant-garde after party for industry insiders.
Who: BOXeight, L.A. Models, Flaunt Magazine, David LaChapelle. A confirmed list of designers and photographers will be announced later this week.
When: Thursday, October 22 – Sunday, October 25
6pm-10pm Photo shoots

The Inside Scoop of Fashion From Box8
One Designer, One Night, One Celebration
I was speaking to Peter Eaton Gurnz, the Founder/CEO of BOXeight last night (or this morning, it was 2 AM at the time) and he gave me an exclusive scoop. I had sent emails to their PR Staff and casually asked one of the employees in passing but I got no answer as to weather or not we were going to see the return of BOXeight Fashion Week this season. So I went straight to the source and I got the best news! YES, BOXeight is returning. Peter said, “We are doing a fashion week this season. It will be around the the 24th, or include the 24th, whatever that Thursday, Friday, Saturday is.” He went on to say that it will be different from previous seasons in that each night will feature a single designer and will be more of a celebration of that designer. It will not necessarily be a formal runway presentation but possibly an installation, informal modeling, a film, a musical performance or a combination of it all. Peter said that it will definitely include art. LookBookLA readers, you heard it here first. Now LA Fashion Week feels right.
More details will be announced soon, dates listed here are subject to change as the line up of designers is confirmed.
